Care and Cleaning of Visiontron Stanchions and Ropes

Care and Cleaning of Visiontron Stanchions and Ropes
It’s simple common sense: Take care of your possessions, and they’ll take care of you. That goes for all of the products we sell at Crowd Control Experts as well. Although the products we sell are all top-quality items made with the utmost care, they will perform better and last longer with the proper care. Here are some tips for the care and cleaning of your Visiontron stanchions and ropes.

Although Visiontron stanchions and ropes come in various materials, there are some basic rules to follow for all. In general, avoid using harsh chemicals and cleaning agents, including solvents. Don’t use steel wool, motorized buffing wheels, Scotch-Brite or scouring pads, or any cleansers with abrasives or pumice. Never use sandpaper, including even the finest sandpaper.

For painted and powder-coat finishes, use warm water and mild soap. Apply with a sponge while using a circular motion to clean. Dry with a soft, cotton cloth.

To remove fingerprints and grime from satin chrome, use a bit of WD-40 on a cotton cloth. A small piece of aluminum foil dipped in vinegar will get rid of stains and rust spots. You should use a glass cleaner to clean up polished chrome.

Only use mild soap and water on satin and polished aluminum. Never use Simple Green or commercial cleaners.

You can remove smudges from satin stainless steel with white vinegar. For tough discolored areas, try a piece of aluminum foil dipped in vinegar.

For polished brass without a clear coat, just use soft cotton wadding soaked with a nonabrasive cleaner. Nevr-Dull and Brasso Duraglit are good brands recommended by the manufacturer for this application.

For polished brass with a clear coat, use only mild soap and water applied with a sponge. After cleaning, dry thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth.

For velour ropes, brush the velour gently to remove loose dust and then vacuum. Add some mild liquid soap to a bucket of warm water and mix it together, but make sure not to make it foam. Dip a piece of muslin in the soapy water, wring out the excess water and rub the damp muslin over the velour with a back-and-forth motion. Dip the muslin back in the soapy water, wring out, and repeat the process until the velour is clean, making sure to change the water-and-soap mixture if it becomes dirty. After the velour has dried naturally, brush it gently with a suede brush to restore the nap. You can also give velour ropes extra protection by using Scotch-Guard.

For Naugahyde ropes, clean with a mild soap and water solution and then wipe dry.

Following these simple instructions will give you years of service and a professional look. If you have any questions, feel free to call or email us. We’ll give you tips and pointers that will help you keep your Visiontron stanchions and ropes in peak condition.
